DSQ002: GODSEYE

March 19, 2009

godseye-stwDSQ002: GODSEYE

new droplets from the TULSA contingent, debuting in limited fashion.  nathan young, eden hemming-rose, & brad rose break down the crust between the seeds.  bone-dry electronics with barely lucid words flickering like dead birds on the surface, with a nod to ruth white but with a bleak, midwestern vibe.  first installment, more on the way.

c28 – limited to 23 copies.  $6/$8 – email me.

discography:
DSQ001: ajilvsga “archived bones” c21 (ltd to 20) – sold out

Hey Brad, I’m wondering about a couple of things (pardon my complete ignorance here – I’m just interested):

When you list the tapes as being C28, C21 etc, is that the total length of tape, or do you personally list them like this because that’s the total length of the recorded material with silence at the end subtracted?

Or can you buy blanks which run to these odd lengths?

Also, when you put out stuff in ‘unusual’ quantities (for example, 23 copies) is it just because that’s how many tapes you’ve got left?

    Apologies for the daft questions.

I’m at work. It sucks. And these are things I’ve always wondered about, so why not ask!

    M.

    hey michael,
the lengths listed are the lengths of the blanks. we get our tapes from a place that’s 2 hours from here, called national audio company – and you can order any length. so that’s where the lengths come from.

and yeah, the weird quantities here generally due to what i have leftover, though the godseye being an edition of 23 is a sort of tongue-in-cheek nod to the whole 23 enigma/robert anton wilson thing.
