from the archives vol. 1
another thing i want to do with this site/blog is post various mp3s from the days of my first foray into labelhood. not necessarily all my own experiments, but also just rare/old tape stuff from the mid-90s cassette daze on labels that were bigtime influences to me like catsup plate, shrimper, union pole, ef tapes, et al.
there will also be some tape releases of old material of mine from my teen years. i don’t know if anyone will care about them, but i’ve been going through boxes of old 4track tapes recently and found some stuff that takes me back and i think is worthwhile on some level and would like to document it physically, even if it’s on a very small level.
anyway, first up from the archives is a short but very sweet track from THE AZUSA PLANE. jason di emilio (r.i.p.) was one of the most awesome dudes around, and his guitar drones were soaring fucking masterpieces. i was extremely lucky that he contributed to three compilations i put out. here’s two of those tracks:
“erone” from chutes & ladders c90 compilation
“nebraska” from north america vs. europe double c92 compilation
he was also on the whiskey you’re the devil CD compilation i put out. such a great dude who is sorely missed. the azusa plane defined space rock for me. more than flying saucer attack. more than füxa. more than even windy & carl. more than any of them.
